New Year, New Ideas.

Self-confidence and being comfortable in my body has been something I have struggled with (and still sometimes do) most of my life. This led to a lot of doubt when others would complement me. Were they just trying to get something out of me? The values I was raised in praised modesty to such an extreme that I disassociated with acknowledging my own body beyond basic functions. I often looked at other girls with a bit of awe of how they can just command a room and be so confident every day. I wanted that confidence too!

It took years for me to actually do something about changing my mindset and my view of myself. But I always thought if you’re going to do something, go big or go home. I went big (obviously!).

On a whim, I decided to try something different and out of the box. I booked a boudoir session. Those that know me, know that this is not something I would ever do. Yet here I was- taking a step into something different. I explained to myself that this would mostly be a as a gift for my hubby. It ended up being a gift to myself. This experience, while outside of my comfort zone (because how do I do “confident” and “sexy”?!?) has really changed my mindset of how I view myself. My photographer was very patient and helpful in explaining what she wanted from me for posing (thanks J!). At some point, I switched from being detached to actually being present in the shoot. But I have to say, it was the image reveal that shocked me. I looked so confident in the poses (even though I totally did not feel that way when we were shooting). Was that really me? I looked like that?!?!

In growing to love myself, I also wanted to offer my clients an experience that will help them see their true beauty. While it took some time and planning, I’m so excited to share that I added Love My Body Boudoir to my session menu. These sessions are all about finding and loving yourself. As my business is growing, I am so thankful for the ladies that book with me and are willing to try some crazy (fun) out of the box posing ideas. Check out my faves from a more recent session that really made me giddy with excitement (see the second image). Erikka was such an amazing model for this shoot. Her beauty and confidence really shines through.
